About the Site:

When I started this site a few years ago the original intent was to provide more information about the area north of the Dolly Sods Wilderness now known as Dolly Sods North. At the time not much was known about the area's land designation or any trail system that may have existed in it.  It was after I got lost my first time in DSN that motivated me (pi$$ed me off enough) to learn more and eventually find accurate trail maps that I and others could use.  Those maps can now be found in the maps section along with other trail maps from nearby areas.  After that, I started exploring more of the surrounding areas of the Monongahela National Forest and have become pretty much hooked. Although a four hour drive away, when it's time to take to get outside, this is the place to go.  There are a lot of great places to explore in the MNF.  I hope my site is helpful to you if you plan to visit some of these West Virginia gems.

Here, there, everywhere:

As you will see from the maps of the Dolly Sods plateau, the Dolly Sods North, Dolly Sods Wilderness, and Roaring Plains are basically one contiguous area separated by land use designations only. On the west side of the plateau is Cannaan Valley State Park and Resort, Timberline Resort, Whitegrass Cross-Country Ski Touring Center, and Blackwater Falls State Park. On the east side you'll find Seneca Rocks, North Fork Mountain, and the Smoke Hole Canyon. To the south is the Spruce Knob Recreation Area  the states highest point (4863ft).  The entire area is jammed full of opportunities for all types of recreation.  Check the links section for a more complete list of destinations and resources.
